Hello again.

So this is turning into a weekly thing apparently instead of a daily thing. This might work out better for weeks when there are not a lot of drawings to post. Weeks like this week.....

This week I was doing a lot of research and planning so not a lot of drawing. However I have come up with another potential idea for a short animation.

I also have a drawing to go with my idea. Here it is....

As you can see it will be called "The Filmmaker". It was an idea that I thought of after watching Hugo (which I highly recommend) and I'm pretty excited about it. As with everything else I have drawn so far, this is still in the early idea phase. So things could change.

Hi there folks.

Here are some more drawing for you. They are both from 'The Last one' The first is a scene from the storyboard. It is a top down view of the sand filled streets in the city that the animation will set in.

Here it is....

The one on the left was a template to the shaded one on the right. Obviously this was just a quick shading to give a sense of depth. I will be posting a few more variations of this.

The next is a small study of some cliffs. This is to help me draw my first piece of concept art which will hopefully be posted in the next week or so.

Here is the first blurb for the animation short "The Last one".

The Last one is the story of the last human alive, John. He wanders a now dead and empty world, the only thing he can think to do is collect memories of as many people and families as possible. John spends his days just surviving and collecting. This is his life, all he has. The story will follow John as he explores a new, nameless city.

Thats all I have so far. This is still very much a work in progress, changes will probably be made but this is a nice simple idea to start with. 

My second animation is called "Balloon Zoo"

Balloon Zoo is a short story of a zoo which is filled with balloon animals. 

Simple......

This one is in the really early stages, so more to come on that one.

So as promised here is the first few drawings for one of my projects. A bit short on time right now so I'm just going to post a short description of both of these drawings for now.

The first one is a sketch of the main character of "The last one". It was a couple different ways of shading that I was trying out.

Secondly I have a quick sketch of the city in which the animation is based. As you can see this will be quiet a serious short. But more on that later today.

So here is my first post!!! Lets hope I keep this up......


I have begun my portfolio (I started a few weeks ago but for the sake of this post I started today) I'm pretty stoked to be starting this and interested to see where this is going to go. But before I go into too much detail about my project, I am going to give whoever reads this a bit of history.


It has been a long dream of mine to draw cartoons. I love them always have, always will. This was the original reason I applied to art school. While I didn't get into the animation course (I ended up doing glass and ceramics instead) I still wanted to draw cartoons. So 6 years pass and we are here to the present. Since moving to california I have decided to make a real effort at this animation thing, and so it is time to build a portfolio. 


I am going to post drawings, ideas etc a few times a week in the hope that people will see them and add any feedback to help me develop my ideas. To do that just hit the comments below...

So this is where hopefully my portfolio will start and grow. First a little bit of what I plan to do here. Over the next few days, weeks and months I will be building a portfolio for starting a career in animation.
